Hi there...
Done! fyi would like to take this
opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
As we work on our social media strategy
I thought you may find it useful to read about what we learned.
The best thing is to focus one hour per
week on building your online reputation.
So here we go: 2017 is just around the
corner,
Make sure that you are registered on
all the vibrant networks out there.
Make sure that your material always
speaks consistently on all platforms, and
Make sure that you use each platform
for the purpose that it was created.
Why they exist in one sentence
Blogs are for short, interesting stories about you and what you have been doing. Not for advertising
Facebook is an awareness of things happening that you are doing - grow organically - 1 real click = 100 random unknowns
Twitter is for passing thoughts that last a few seconds (unless you are Donald Trump) - avoid RT of other people's quotes - be original
Instagram is for you to visually entertain others - great pics, few words
LinkedIn is Facebook for business. Share what you are doing, but strictly business. Strong for recruitment of key personnel
YouTube is a power booster. It is the second largest search engine and will attract people. Proliferate good material, create focused originals
Google + depends upon which market you are in. USA is strong. Similar to Facebook and great for assisting in your SEO
Pinterest is for collections of ideas. Gather your internet web thoughts and musings into one place and categorize what you found
Think about this: if you spent 1 hour
per week on social media and you spent just 7 minutes on each of these
platforms you would have a formidable and active network of things going on
that will slowly build up into a wave of online credibility.
Remember that your business will do
better if you have some links going out to major websites, and links coming
in.
TECHNICAL STUFF
Meta tags - these are found in your homepage code - there are many
strategies for this. Make sure that you have your keywords there
Text in your site - ensure that the keywords you put in your
website text are consistent with the keywords you want to be known for, the
ones that you have used in your meta tags
Headers within your webtext - ensure that the headers in your
webtext contain important words <h1> and onwards (you may need help with
this)
Google Business - Register your business on Google Business - this has
important influence on your ranking with Google.
Google Maps/Earth - tag your business location/s - make sure that you are
dropping your pin in the right place
W3C - being compliant in your webcode may not seem important to
you, but this is what ensures that your site will work on every platform - you
can check your site by clicking here https://validator.w3.org/
- if it shows you errors you will need your web programmer to fix it.
Worth doing
If you do all of these things, you will
automatically rank well in Google. Why? Because these are logical and
reasonable steps that show you are a credible business.
After that you can take a look at this
list from Shopify and use their 52 ideas as a weekly thought starter for
2017
